Art & Music

When did you start DJing or producing?

I started producing when I got a laptop with garage band on it. That turned into me getting Logic and learning how to produce on that, but I have since switched over to Ableton. I don’t really DJ. I perform all original music whilst singing and playing many keyboards. I guess it might feel like a DJ hybrid to some, and I am ok with that!

What or who were your early passions and influences?

Music has always been my most prominent passion. I was heavily influenced by a mixture of classical music and alternative music. Very opposite sides of the spectrum but somehow guided me to where I am.

Where do you get your inspiration now?

I can only write what I am authentically feeling. My writing might be inspired by something as weird as being sick or something as simple or profound as love. Love is not simple but I think it is probably the most universal feeling. Well, that and anxiety. I am really inspired and driven by my personal struggles.

What is one sub-genre or alt-community you think doesn't get the attention it deserves?

Analog visual artists. There is a community of people doing really interesting art.

Can you tell me about some of the most memorable moments during your career in the music industry?

The most memorable moments have been the moments I have met the people I have become friends with. The most important moments to me are the ones where I recognize and can feel my development as a human and artist. Personal achievements are the greatest.

What is one track that never gets old for you no matter how many times you put it on repeat?

Kid A

Style

Describe your style in 5 words.

Personal, mysterious, dark, long silhouetted

Where do you get your style inspiration?

I usually just find pieces that I like, cut them up paint on them and do my own thing. No where specific, but there is something to discover everywhere.

Who/what is your style icon?

Michèle Lamy is pretty fresh.

“Style is an extension of self. It is a form of self-expression.” True or false? Why?

Yes absolutely. Much like writing music, I can put my brain into or onto my clothes and show you an extension of what I am feeling without having to literally speak and explain what is going on in my head.

How does your music influence your style? Why?

Again it is just another extension of who I am. My music is all of me, and somehow I think that just inspires the different clothes I wear and create. I actually just painted a few jackets for my up coming tour. The night before I had just written a new song. It was dusk and I had headphones on and this really weird track playing on repeat over and over. I think my musical creation definitely inspired my painting.

Any item you're eyeing to purchase next?

I saw some pretty fly Chanel shoes but I probably wouldn’t buy them. My next purchase will most likely be a grill.

Festival Fun

Favorite thing to wear to a festival:

Boots and something airy and comfortable.

What's your favorite pair of shoes to wear to a festival?

I am going to let you in on a a little secret I haven’t told anyone. Born boots. I am not sponsored.. but I should be. They are inexpensive and unbelievably comfortable. The only boots I wear. So I buy a bunch and paint on them.

What's in your bag?

I usually have a backpack that is too heavy. A computer, midi controller, smartypants vitamins, headphones, chargers for everything, a notebook, hand sanitizer, laugh kiss care lip stuff, barf bag, eye mask, hair ties, snacks, the list goes on.

5 essentials to bring to a festival:

Dust mask, hand sanitizer, water, pedialyte, sunglasses.

Future festivals you’re looking forward to attending/playing at?

I have always thought highly of European festivals so that would be really fun to experience.
