I come from a very artistic family so I grew up surrounded by creativity. Every person in my family either plays music, paints, does photography, or graphic designs.

My mom was a dance teacher so choreography, music and dance has always been a huge part of me, and my grandmother taught me a little bit of sewing and crocheting when I was a kid.

Tell us a little about your journey and how you got to where you are now.
Hi everyone! I am Alexe, a 27 years old French designer and blogger. I worked in the fashion industry for over thirteen years in both retail and wholesale. My first full-time job was when I was 19 in Lyon, France, as an exclusive sales representative for a big Danish company.

After two very intensive years, I was looking to move on somewhere else. I considered Australia, but ended up in London instead (which ended up being one of my favorite cities in the world). I worked in a retail shop as a sales advisor and I finally found the courage to launch my personal blog in January 2012.

In May 2013, I opened up my own Etsy shop where I sold the designs I had been making for years. Finally, in December 2015 I was able to realize my original dream of moving to Australia. I lived in Melbourne for three months, and then in a van for seven months, just traveling around the country. Now I am back in France and based in the south, working as a blogger and shop owner/designer but also as a manager, visual merchandiser and community manager for a 500 square feet ready-to-wear shop.

What are some of your main passions, and why are they important to you?
I come from a very artistic family so I grew up surrounded by creativity. Every person in my family either plays music, paints, does photography, or graphic designs, etc. My mom is a dance teacher and choreographer so music and dance have always been a huge part of me. My grandmother taught me a little bit of sewing and crocheting when I was a kid, so my passion and determination for fashion arose at an early age.

All of these skills are so important to me as they allow me to fully express myself and to be honest, I would be nothing without them. It also allows me to connect with other talented people from all over the world.

Any hidden talents?
I have been dancing for over 24 years. Though that’s not really as hidden to everyone who knows me well, I’ve actually never really talked about it on my blog or social media, so here it is!

What lessons have you learned along the way?
The most important lesson I learned is to always stay true to yourself and your taste. Do not try to be someone else in order to get followers or likes on social media. It is stupid and unhealthy. I think it is very important to stay authentic, as it is what makes your blog and business unique, and stand from the crowd.

What tools can you not live without?
My cameras and Instagram.

What do you shoot with?
We just got a brand new camera after using my old one for 6 years. We went for CANON 6D MARK II and we use both a 50mm and 24mm lens. My favorite location to shoot is by far the wilderness, especially the desert. I also have a big crush on 70’s interiors so if there’s a funky floral tapestry around, chances are you’ll definitely see me snapping a photo of it!

Where does most of your inspiration come from?
Most of the time my inspiration comes from friends and family, as they are always giving me new ideas! But whenever I find myself having a lack of inspiration, I just browse the internet. Mostly Instagram and Pinterest. I also love to read or re-read books and watch old movies.

What’s on your reading or music list right now?
Marie-Antoinette and “le Style Bardot.” As for music, Andy Shauf and Cigarettes after Sex.

Favorite color of the moment?
Mustard, Burgundy and Tan, as always!

Who are your favorite fashion icons?
Lately I have been very inspired by all of our most iconic French muses like Brigitte Bardot, Jane Birkin, Françoise Hardy and more. As for fellow bloggers, I am always inspired by Sara from Waiste Vintage, Louise from Miss Pandora, Corina from Wild and Free and so many other beautiful and talented women all over the world that this list would make a novel.

Dream collaborations?
They are so many amazing brands I would love to collaborate with so I am just gonna name a few of my favorites: Free People, Spell Designs, Arhnem, and Nine Lives Bazaar.

How would you describe your personal style?
My personal style has always been vintage and bohemian, inspired by the 60’s and 70’s. The more prints, fringe, leather and suede I get, the better it is!

What are your 5 must-haves for fall?
A brown tartan coat, a black vinyl skater skirt, a gavroche cap and a kimono from my shop here.

What is a typical weekday like for you?
Weekdays and weekends are pretty much the same to me as I have been working 7 days a week for the past 5 years. Some days are more busy than others though. I try to get some “me” time as much as possible and do not think of work at all, but it is quite complicated for me to do that. I feel alive only when I am working or doing something creative. Laying on the beach is my thing too, but not for too long. I either need a book or my phone.

Go-to beauty routine?
Lately, I have been a huge fan of Kat Von D beauty products as they are vegan and non tested on animals.

Dream destination?
There are so many locations I would want to travel to right now but I would probably say Byron Bay, Australia as I have been missing this place so much lately! Bali has been on my mind for quite a few months as well.

Any exciting ones in the works?
I’ll probably visit my dad in the Caribbean in a few weeks, and I’m also looking forward to move my brand to a new location later this year (but we haven’t decided where yet). Maybe Paris or abroad.

What about projects?
I am working on my own e-shop that will be released in a few months, with a brand new name. Stay tuned.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
I would love to see myself living in California, with an emerging 70’s inspired clothing label and still wandering the world.
