And the winner is…

We are happy to finally announce the winners of our American Apparel x SPOOKBOOK.nu DIY Halloween Contest. We never expected that this year's contest would receive over 1000 entries! We were blown away by everyone's creative, DIY Halloween spirit and it was very difficult to select the winners. Thank you to everyone who participated!

Without further ado, the winners!

First Place

Ruby Tanja as Burton's Doll - We fell in love with this beautiful, spooky doll costume straight out of Mr. Burton's imagination! A "ruined" dress repurposed into an amazing Halloween outfit!

Second Place

Anastasia Siantar as the Mad Hatter - Not the first time fashion has made us mad! We were especially taken aback by how Anastasia made the bow-tie from a dress, and the hat from a square box!

Andre Judd as a skeleton - Amazingly detailed, head-to-toe hand-painted skeleton suit.

Kelsey M. as the Black Swan - One of the most popular costumes this year, but Kelsey's highly detailed, completely DIY Black Swan is ready for the stage! Check out her how-to video here: youtu.be/mn9KigDy_Oc

Runner Ups

Gentil-coquelicot-mesdames as the decapitated Marie Antoinette - You can't eat cake without your head! Deliciously lovely and creepy at the same time!

Denny Balmaceda as Alex Delarge from "A Clockwork Orange" - Welly, welly, welly, welly, welly, welly, well. To what do I owe the extreme pleasure of this surprising visit?" Original and well-executed costume!

Lauren J. as Lady Gaga from the "You & I" MV - All items in this impressive Gaga replica are either secondhand or found at the hardware store!

M'c Kenneth Licon as Pinnochio - Probably the most adorable costume of this bunch - no lie!

Ebba Nielson as the Zombie Boy from "Born this Way" - Simply magnificent makeup! Baby I was born this way!

Breanne S. as an owl - 800 feathers + old clothes + DIY magic = the best owl costume ever!

Aimee S. as Rapunzel - Ready for an adventure! Another amazing costume, completely hand-made by Aimee!

Zoë Deluge as Catherine - We all wish we could be video game characters sometimes! Props to Zoë for styling the wig!

Josefin Johansson as Edward Scissorhands - Perfect makeup and expression!

Nadja Seale as Amy Winehouse - Nothing but applause for this heartfelt tribute to Amy Winehouse, rest in peace.
