Fashion is something to get inspired by and not confined.
Andreas Wijk is a 17 year old singer, blogger, and lover of life from Gothenburg, Sweden.
Tell us a little bit about yourself and where you live.
I am a 17 year old student, singer and blogger from Gothenburg, Sweden. Fashion and music are my two greatest passions in life. I have lots of projects in both right now. The music projects are secrets for the moment, but the fashion projects contains some styling jobs, and yeah you name it...I love it! I love pop [music] and it is what I wanna do! You can listen to some of my music on my YouTube channel. Blogging is also a great interest! I am grateful that I started my blog a year and a half ago because it has given me so much. I love life and I’m looking forward to the future.
How did you first get interested in fashion and why is it important?
Since music always has been such a big interest of mine, I think fashion came pretty natural for me. The whole image of being an artist is all about music and clothes together. I sometimes feel that clothing is after all nothing but clothes and it's really not that important. However, it is one of the most fun things I know!
How do you describe the fashion scene in Gothenburg compared to other major cities/fashion capitals?
I think Swedish people dress very nicely overall. There are a lot of great budget chains from Sweden, so that is something that contributes to people getting their own style. I mean, who does not adore H&M?
How did you get into music?
When I was a kid I recorded a CD with two friends and went on tour in Sweden. It was a cool experience to do that stuff as a child. Today I must say that my blog has helped me to get into the industry.
What do you love about living in Sweden?
I love everything from our traditions, to the different seasons (okay, the summer could be longer), to the music and the fashion.
I think we are quite the only ones who dance around a maypole with flowers in the end of July. It's like dancing around a Christmas tree. Course you do that in other countries too, right!?
Top 3 places to visit in Sweden:
If I would take you to three places during summer in Sweden I would start by taking you to the beautiful archipelagoes either on the west coast (where I live) or in the capital, Stockholm. Then we would visit Sweden's biggest amusement park Liseberg. I'm like a kid in there! Finally, we would go to my house and just eat ice cream on the backyard.
Describe your personal style and its influences / inspiration.
I think I have a typical Swedish style, and yet with a touch of everything. Minimalistic and variable are two good words. I love to experiment with layer upon layer.
Favorite designers and places to shop?
I love Swedish fashion and brands such as Acne and Cheap Monday. If you come to Gothenburg you need to visit Weekday. I also love to shop in cheap secondhand stores.
The first thing you look at in another person's outfit is:
What do you skimp on?
Hm.. Purple is not my color.
What do you splurge on?
Denim! We Swedes love denim!
A fashion rule you never break:
I find it boring when fashion magazines write about what NOT to wear. I think fashion is something to get inspired by and not confined.
What do you think is the most recent notable trend to appear/reappear, and what are your thoughts on it?
I was totally in love with the natural colors this summer and I will continue on that track even in the fall and next spring. Brown and beige are awesome colors.
What is your next "must have" purchase?
It’s funny, because as soon as the fall is here, I start look for summer clothes. So right now, for example, I am looking for what I feel like wearing next summer. I bought all of my new fall jackets this spring. As a fashion blogger, it is smart to stay one step ahead.
Are there any fashion icons or famous people whose style you admire?
I always get this question and I always think it’s a difficult one. I really do not have any specific icons that I love. When it comes to my style I think I’m picking a bit of everything. Although I don't have any typical fashion icons, Swedish Lykke Li looks amazing! I get inspired just by looking through my big closet!
What can't you live without?
God, my family and all of my friends.
What music are you into right now?
Oh, I listen to so many artist for the moment, so it would be hard to choose one. Right now as I write this, I'm walking through my city listening to Christmas music. Yes, I'm a Christmas freak!
Next place you want to travel to:
I want to go to a warm place, because it's freezing cold in Sweden right now. If there is someone out there who would like to buy me a ticket to somewhere warm, please email me!
What is your personal favorite outfit on LOOKBOOK by you, and by another member?
In the year 2015 you will be:
Living a wonderful life with my upcoming girlfriend, recording my second album and planning my tour in Europe! I have no idea. I’m so excited for my future, even if that won’t be it.
What would you say to someone seeking general fashion advice?
Never wear something you feel uncomfortable with.
Ebba Z. wants to know: What is the weirdest thing you own?
I wish I could say something funny on this question, but I don't know what would it be. I've been looking for the past fifteen minutes and tried to find something weird. I own forty board games. Weird or not?
What should we ask the next interviewee?
When do you pick what to wear for the next day? (In the morning? The night before? Etc.)
