SS14 RTW PARIS FASHION WEEK HIGHLIGHT: MARC JACOBS' FAREWELL TO LOUIS VUITTON
After 16 years as Louis Vuitton's head designer, Marc Jacobs (50 years old) is leaving the French fashion house to turn his attention to taking his namesake brand public.
His final hurrah for Louis Vuitton was the SS14 RTW show, a spectacular scene of an all black fantasy world including relics from his time at Louis Vuitton: a carousel, railway clock tower, fountain, elevators and escalators. The collection itself was completely black (our favorite color! Is black even a color?), with the exception of a sparse amount of blue denim jeans, full of sheer pieces richly adorned with black embellishments and details. The models donned big feather head dresses to represent the "the showgirl in all of us."
