RULES UPDATE (AGAIN)

This is a friendly reminder to everyone to please follow the rules, be a good LB citizen and help set an example to newcomer users by posting outfit shots that clearly show your ENTIRE body!

The most common rule that is broken on LOOKBOOK.nu is when people post looks that aren't head to toe. While we do allow photos that show 3/4 of your body—from head to knees or from neck to toes—we encourage full body photos as much as possible. The reason we make this a priority is to ensure a consistent quality throughout the entire site and to make sure that submissions are on-topic.

What do we mean by on-topic? This site was built to showcase looks that were carefully and creatively put together from all types of people. A common argument is that shots which only show one's face, upper body, or even just their legs/shoes, etc. "still show style, and after all isn't lookbook about style?" NO! LOOKBOOK.nu is about LOOKS, i.e. your full-body look of the day—from how you chose to style your hair, down to what shoes you chose to wear. Your look must show not only your entire OUTFIT, but as much of your BODY as you possibly can.

If you think we are not lenient at all, that is untrue. We let a fair amount of 3/4 looks slide but that is where we draw the line. If your look doesn't show your head to your knees or your neck to your toes, it will be deleted regardless of whether or not your look has tons of 'hype'! And by the way, we do delete looks from popular as well as newer users. So please do not accuse us of favoritism as we are moderating over a thousand looks per day.

OK, so now that we have clarified "head to toe", please take note of these other new changes:

1. You are allowed to combine multiple views of your outfit into a mosaic, but please don't go overboard. Some people have been posting mosaics of so many (6+) photos that the outfit is shrunk to a point where it is no longer clearly visible. Due to this occurrence, going forward we are only allowing at most 3 combined images per submission.

2. Sometimes we get submissions where the person is shot from a far distance and their outfit is not clearly visible. If you do not take up a significant portion of your photo, your look will be deleted on the basis that the outfit is not the focus.

Hopefully this spells out clearly what is acceptable and what isn't.

Thanks so much to everyone who "gets" why these guidelines are in place and consistently posts looks that follow all the rules!

To the rest, please make both our lives easier by avoiding borderline submissions from now on! We hate to delete looks but if we do, don't take it personal—we have to be fair to everyone.

I agree with everything, but am sad about the only 3 combined images per submission. Haha, it's okay, i just got so used to making a collage of my outfit, but my outfits are visible in all of them.

yhea agreed
people that have been posting they're face or so have been pissing me off haha
but,
There is one thing that has been bugging me. The 'too skinny' issue with pictures.
I have run in to this several times. My looks were shown wel, but his made me put in another (part of a) picture, wich didn't have anything to do with the subject.
I think it the too skinny limit should be skinnier.

well, if you upload a picture that is beneath the width of (I don't know what the limits are, let's say) 200 px, it gets denied. Lookbook says it's to skinny.

I've noticed the quality of the pictures on the front page has majorly improved since the changing rules. Great job :)

guilty! :(

3 combined images per submission should be changed to 4 combined images per submission. I got one outfit pic 480 pixels tall and next to it i got three detail pics. It's not bothering anyone.

But the pics has really improved here. That great!

i definitely agree to this! I think having one large base image and then three small ones in a column on the side arent bad, as long as its done neat and not sparatic, it should be allowed.

oh damn.
i guess i just really like collages.
bahah, i'll deal.
thanks for clarifying :]

it should be four because its easier to divide a square or rectangle (which is what most pictures are!) into fours...ya know what im sayin?

IZM SANMA

IZM S. @izmsanma

I think a 2x2 square featuring a mosaic won't work. It's simple and easy to edit and post as a four-in-one symmetrically arranged picture, but the 'look' [according to LB definition: "your full-body look of the day" - or closer] would turn out too tiny and hardly visible or look like a jigsaw puzzle... Although the design and layering activities can solve this problem, so many people deal with size and skinny pictures when trying to do this. So why not staying simple? I'm cool with the three combined images limit.

I was just wondering about the only 3 combined images... does that include details also? I mean a small photo closeup of things like (jewelry, shoes, etc..) Not that it matters to my looks, but just curious.

what I don"t understand Is why I can't use models to post looks unless all the clothes have been designed by myself... 2 of my best friends are models and I'm more of a photographer...I'd much rather get a better shot of the outfit on one of them than on myself. I mean it's the look that's what should be the focus correct?
