PHILIPPINE FASHION WEEK DAY 4
this is for the LB members who continue to inspire me: Pete Skibinski, M C, and Harley.
This was an exciting day for me as it was our turn to participate in the shows. Its been 2 years since we last showed and this time we made sure the show delivered. Lots of models were cast for the show. Also lot of the stuff I designed were worn and reinterpreted in new exciting ways. The show was incredible. I felt proud being part of it as it was a labor of love.
Super love my design team.
photos from the show can be seen at these following sites:
A story behind the outifit:
1.Brown leather jacket with spliced front panel with cut out detail and embroidery by Protacio.
-This is a very interesting piece of garment. When worn the suit appears to be two jackets layered upon each other but when viewed under closer inspection it is actually one. I love how the pinstriped detail offsets the leather body by creating a formal yet rugged rendition of a typical leather blazer. But the design doesn't stop there. It had multi pockets placed on the sleeve as well making it almost utilitarian, until Protacio added these impeccable embroideries that made the jacket look like a baroque 21st century punk rocker suit. Tdf!!!
Too bad i cant post more than three photos of this look because detailing alone in the jacket deserves more shots.
2. The "Andre" necklace
Leave it to Herbert Custodio to deliver a standout neckpiece which bears my name in gold. I LOVE IT!!!!! Its like an id minus the tacky plastic. This is opulence to the max but coincidentally functional at the same time. I wanted to put some rock elements to the neckpiece so i added this skull pendant.
3. The biker shoe:
I havent had the chance to highlight this in my look (well theres room for that in next posts) but its one of the designs we used for the show. Guess where this shoe was taken from?
I love the reddish brown hue of the leather and those gold metal hardware. Why not metal accessories on your shoe right?
4. The gangsta/punk 'do:
Buern is a genius when it comes to hair, so I always ask him to do whatever he wants with my hair when we get the chance. He was the brains behind those amazing hairdos in our show.
I love how the look combines multi references. Theres hip hop/gangsta/punk/baroque/corporate(pinstripe and blazer references)/utilitarian/50s. But what unites this look with my previous outing are the rock sensibilities which I consider an essential a core to my personal style.
