I am singlehandedly (I think) trying to bring back madras this summer.
Remember when this kind of crazy mixed patchwork madras thing was SO BIG about 4 years ago and it was annoyingly everywhere and all the Aberzombies were wearing it? No, I wasn’t one of those prepsters. But despite the overexposure, I have held a certain affection for this look ever since.
I’ll admit that it was an APC collection (they rarely do anything wrong, in my opinion) from way back when that actually convinced me of patchwork madras’ awesomeness. It’s so innately fun and colorful and needs little else than solid pieces for it to look amazing and standout.
Paired with a conservative 50s-ish cardigan and boat shoes (the ultimate preppy summer shoe, I think), It gives off a vintagey look that I absolutely love. Perfect for summer (or even spring, if you’re in California).
(I also had to do so many jumping shots to get a good one that I actually hurt my right knee, which was already kind of injured from a kneeling incident of all things. I’m getting old. Good thing I already dress vintage-like.)
