I’ve always been hesitant about mixing florals with florals. Sometimes, you have to draw the line on wearing one piece of floral clothing then pair it with something not so floral. Two weeks ago, I invited a friend to hold an impromptu shoot in a field near my house. I took it as an opportunity to wear these shorts I got from a kids’ store, and a loose cropped top I made. Since our setting was very nature-y, it seemed apt to what I was wearing. Paired it with an antique gold leafy necklace and I was good to go!
I already made about 5 of these tops for my online store, SELFMADE MANILA (selfmademanila.tumblr.com) which I haven’t really started on. The first collection is taking a little longer than expected. I realized though, that for a designer (aspiring, actually! haha), the first collection is the hardest because it’s where you try to show your style and what differentiates you from others.
And oh yeah, to add to this, just because its a kids’ store, it doesn’t mean you can’t find something good. Most of my unique pieces come from these kinds of stores since only a few people consider buying going in a kids’ store.
PS: see how conscious I am of my tummy? hahahaha
