I apologize for the multitude of photos I included in this look. I wanted to show how dramatic the couture piece was at all angles. The intricate beadwork, the undulations of the shoulders and the dramatic train.
If only I could wear pieces like these everyday (though impractical) because the workmanship and the genius that goes into the design remind me how couture and glamorous women were back then in the 50s, couture's heyday. The only time and I think the only appropriate event to wear it would be a BEST DRESSED BALL, an event I look forward to each year. It is organized by Manila's top fashion magazine PREVIEW. Each year women across the country are selected by its editors to be featured in the their best dressed issue. To coincide with that issue, a ball is organized to present these women to the fashion industry.

This year the theme was Coco Banana, a hip luxe disco/club back in the late 70s, a contemporary of Studio 54. It was the epitome of 70s glam chic with every guest outfitted in the most amazing clothes.

Instead of wearing the predominant mens fashion during the 70s (tight bellbottoms and pointed collars I looked upto couturiers that excelled in that era. It was an easy choice for me to choose this dazzling red couture piece because it reminded me of the work of the great Roberto Capucci, an Italian couturier whose work of dramatic pleated volumes was sheer genius.

The styling took to asian influeces with imperial influenced jewelry and indian beaded clutch bag.

I also had my hair done by the amazing Buern Rodriguez whose hands are the lightest in the industry weaving hair magic without pain even in the intense hair braiding techniques. It was hair couture with my red couture:)
