When I was young, my dad used to tell me stories about Imperial dynasties in China. The emperors who ruled each succeeding dynasty created lasting contributions to culture, history and tradition.

I was also intrigued by the lavish excesses of these times. The ruling dynasty and its court donned rich silk robes and enjoyed celebrations within the vast palace complex.

Funny thing too that when i was hearing stories about dynasties, my dad used to trick me by telling me that we were descendants of the Chang Dynasty. As a kid, I believed him and I was totally proud of this knowledge that i had royal blood roots. Till the time came i asked my chinese language teacher to tell me the ruling dynasties and China and to my embarrassment there was no such thing as a Chang Dynasty. But i wasnt mad at my dad at all. I like the idea of a Chang Dynasty:) Also I realized those times where my dad tells me stories were his way of bonding with his son.

One time our family surprised our dad for his bday with a dynasty inspired party where a tarp print out of him showed him in a portrait style closely resembling a chinese emperor. Even his cake was done in a grand palace style. Though he wont admit but we knew he was really happy with what we did for him. It was a cool party and a fitting tribute to how cool my father the emperor is:)

About the look:
Embracing an oriental look with this amazing curved banana sleeve trench inspired from traditional chinese silk robes I wore it with brocade to imbue the look with a vintage/classic opulence feel. I wore my hair loose to play with that whole ancient Chinese royalty feel. The purples of the bag(in the croc handle) and the purple irridescent sheen of the brocade pants complents the purple ombred hair I was sporting:)
