Moments in life need a bit more rustic beauty. Even though the autumn season yields the cessation of farmer's markets, summer fruits, and emerald grassy fields, it conjures up thoughts of other fruits to be picked off from earth's floor. October is one of my favorite months of the year, for numerous reasons. My boyfriend and I met each other three years ago, pumpkin patches are abundant across the land, and the trees' fiery flames hail the arrival of fall. As fresh and seasonal produce grow more scarce in the colder season, my boyfriend and I like to dine at our favorite vegan restaurant in town. Nothing speaks comfort food better than grilled cheese sandwiches, wild rice infused bell peppers, ginger peppermint tea, and a slice of homemade mint chocolate cake. The silverware and furniture are all pretty and provincial hand-me-downs. Service is saturated with good ol' small town friendliness. Even though I grew up in L.A. for majority of my life, there will always be a little of country in me. Glimpses of summer porch simplicity, places were neighbors and best friends mean the same thing, and quaint farm life never cease to tug at my heart strings.
much love, Jamie
