I created this dress for a school project that took a year to do.
It got selected to be featured in local news papers and at a local shopping center. It was the first idea that come into my mind about this time last year and I worked to make sure that I'd create it to the best of my ability. Its a tulle bottom and a corset up top. This idea seemed fun and was outrageous compared to what my other classmates themes that mainly consisted formal wear, their garments were amazingly beautiful! I chose to do a Halloween inspired garment. I was mainly inspired by spiders.
I am very proud of what I have created as I doubted it and myself in the course of making it.
I also made a fascinator for the dress, it is also hand made, i made it from a clay like paper mache`, filed it to get a smooth texture and painted it with many coats of black paint then drowned it with plenty of glitter. I didn't include it in the picture. as it is still in the hands of my teacher.
The back of the dress is one of my favourite parts, I feel that it gives it something special!
And these are the tiny plastic spiders that took me a good 3 weeks with many of my time taken up including my lunch and recesses, so small yet so annoying, I sew them on individually!
