by Anna Ranna L., 25 year old Fashion Designer/Intern from Brooklyn
This look, gathered from the depths of my closet, consists of old and new. The T-shirt is from the San Francisco band The Residents and was my father's. I made the leggings myself out of this amazing spandex, and the boots are handed down from my mother. They are 1980s croc-print, patent-leather, above the ankle and fabulous. I wear these boots with everything.
The perfect shoe to me is typically inspired by times past, but updated to be a more current version. It is practical, it holds up well to dancing, walking and riding bikes and it works with my wardrobe. The perfect shoe is the one that you pick out of your closet without thinking twice. The perfect shoe marries old with new and accompanies you through your daily adventures without you even knowing they are there; they make a statement about you.
As a small designer, I feel that I have a good eye for knowing what people want: to represent their personal style without having to try too hard. I want to make it easy for people to get dressed. I look around me for inspiration and find that it most often comes from a mixture of vintage and high-end futuristic with coloring from nature. My goal if I were to design a shoe for Jeffrey Campbell would be to make a shoe that can be worn with a sun dress and kept on for a night on the town, dancing around until dawn.

Anna Ranna L.: October 17, 2009
Thank you so much! I went to fashion design school and learned pattern making. I got the fabric in New York. You can always make a pattern by cutting up an old pair of leggings!
