Im lusting over scarf prints for spring summer 2012. Back in the 90s major fashion houses like Versace, Hermes, Chanel, and Gucci created luxe scarves which featured vivid colored prints of baroque details interspersed with linked chains, belts, logos, horses, ropes. From nautical preppy, to equestrian themed, to royalty, iconic motifs/codes were used by these houses to create these iconic prints. Versace loved baroque mixed with greek antiquity and Miami. Hermes and Gucci did Equestrian prints while Chanel favored the linked chains reminiscent of the quilted Chanel bag and its chain linked strap.

For today's post I did an homage to iconic Hermes and Gucci equestrian scarf prints by wearing a similar print interpreted in a cardigan. Rich shades of midnight berry, pomegranate, lime, blueberries creating an interesting visual play. It was such an amazing printed cardigan that I wanted to take the look further up a notch by styling it with a nod to old worldly cultures such as British aristocracy with their checkered wool trousers as seen in a classic painting of Niel Gow by Henry Raeburn, tuxedo shoes and combined with Maharajas and their opulent styling of using jewels with my forever inspiration the amazing Maharajah Bhupinder Singh of Patiala and his world famous Patiala diamond necklace. Instead of a wrapped turban I used this vintage silk bomber jacket and wore it like a turban. Love how it came out as a hat which had a peaked visor effect but looked like a sash when you see the knotting of the sleeves in the back.
