Countless people have always said to me they want me to take them opshopping. I've been told I seem to have the 'Midas Touch', when it comes to thrift stores, and I can reach into a plethora of racks, and pull out gem after gem.

To be honest, perhaps it is a mere knack for being able to immediately assemble an outfit in my head from seeing one piece of clothing, perhaps it is just luck, but honestly, I do not overly think it's that hard.
Thrift stores are one of the BEST places to put together outfits. It's so fun, it's exciting, and you can almost never leave without something in a bag, your mind brimming with excitement as you rush home to assemble what will of course be your triumphant new outfit.

Of course, another positive of thrift store 'raids', as I call them, is that you basically spend a fraction of what you would generally spend, and end up with so much more. Sure, brand new boutique bought clothing is amazing, I've spent hundreds upon hundreds of dollars on singular items of clothing before myself, but, to walk into one of these opportunity stores and spend $20 - $30, and walk out with one to three new outfits, of course meaning many more if you are a mix-and-matcher like I am.

This morning, I decided it was about time to go on my weekly thrift store raid. I live in a little studio apartment in West End, and as far as inner city Brisbane goes, there are really THREE main places you need to head to, for the most amazing finds. Paddington has some amazing thrift stores, however can be a little pricey. Annerley is plastered with opshops, literally half a dozen on the main road. West End has many, if you know whereabouts to look.

I managed to find the most wonderful vintage red and black plaid blazer/jacket top, with vintage buttons, some 1960ish womens leather gloves for my friend, and the most beautiful lace top also purchased for a friend. I only spent $16.

Now. Sometimes you will not be able to find anything. All I can recommend is don't actually go in the store looking for anything. Figuratively, let the clothes find you. They will catch your eye, wiggle into your peripheries, and it'll be love at first sight.
Obviously there will be a lot of stuff you won't want to wear. That's fine. Neither did it's last owner. However, perhaps someone has discarded something you find absolutely incredible. And like all thrift stores, it won't cost a pretty penny.
