The title of this post is taken from Monica Pradhan's Book, "Hindi-Bindi club.

"A bindi is the red dot I am wearing on my forehead. Traditionally, the area where the bindi is placed is said to be the sixth chakra, ajna, the seat of "concealed wisdom". According to followers of Hinduism, this chakra is the exit point for kundalini energy. The bindi is said to retain energy and strengthen concentration. It is also said to protect against demons or bad luck. The bindi also represents the third eye." --- Wikipedia

Usually, a pinch of Vermilion skillfully placed on the forehead makes for a Bindi, and is traditionally red in color. Nowadays, one gets stick on Bindis in many colors, and that's what i am wearing.

I love how a Bindi can completely transform your look. Indian clothes just look so much more beautiful with this simple adornment. The pants I am wearing are called Patiala Salwar. A Patiala salwar has its roots in Patiala City in the Northern region of Punjab state in India. The King of Patiala in earlier times had its Royal dress as Patiala Salwar. They are worn with the Kurtas or the long knee length top, like the one I am wearing in this picture. Because a patiala salwar is very loose and stitched with pleats, it's a very comfortable outfit to wear. I The beautiful draping effect is achieved with folds of cloth stitched together that meet at the bottom.
