BIKE FOR KAM

Today, I'm wearing this cyan bracelet from my friend's charity, Bike for Kam. Kam is afflicted with HIBM (Hereditary Inclusion Body Myopathy) which is a rare genetic disorder that causes progressive muscle wasting and weakness. The weakness and severity can vary from person to person. In some, weakness in the legs is noticed first. In few others, the hands are weakened more rapidly than the legs, but in all cases HIBM has the potential to take a patient to near quadriplegic state. The pharmaceutical companies have not "adopted" this disease because it provides little financial incentive for the private sector to make and market new medications to treat or prevent it.

Please donate! 100% of your donations will go to HIBM research. They are currently at just over $8,000 of their $40,000 goal.
