The Maurie and Eve dress is from their Spring/Summer 2011 collection, 'Iconic' and was very very VERY difficult to find. I won a crazy bidding war on eBay to get it...I paid more than the retail price but when you LURVE something...LOL
Not being the skinniest girl in the world, I've never really been a fan of super tight, super short dresses....that is until I learned the tricks of personal styling and illusion dressing.
I bought this Maurie and Eve dress because of it's striking colour, high neckline and cross body draping. When I tried it on at home, I was a little disturbed by how short it was which was disappointing because I truly do love it. I'm a bit wider in the hip and while I can wear a mini, it needs to sit further down than right under my ass to streamline the hip or they look wider than they actually are. Putting on a skirt underneath would just ruin the look of the dress so instead I threw on my new Kookai long line cardi to see if I could put the focus on my height rather than the width of my hips...needless to say it worked..I now have an outfit for my antics tonight!
The studded shoes were a bargain find at $8.50 from my new favourite thrift store, Rewind Recycled Fashions (see previous outfit post). Unlike my last look which was solely vintage pieces, the shoes technically 'recycled' not classic vintage. I love anything studded and the fact that these are a nude colour, caught my attention because it means I could style them with anything and everything. If you're out shopping vintage and yo find a pair of shoes in YOUR size...for $8.50...you do NOT think!
I wore them last night to my sister's birthday. I was on my feet for a good 3-4 hours and not once did they hurt! I have a $200 pair of turquoise Wittner platforms that kill my feet after 5 minutes...go figure.
