The one article of clothing that defines the platonic ideal of comfortable clothing, started as underwear by working stiffs at the turn of the 20th century. The counterculture and working class later appropriated it as a stand-alone outerwear. Today’s T-shirt should always fit just right: slightly snug throughout the torso and arms, and stopping at the hip – and it should never express anything more than a man’s self-confidence.
