Not sure how clear this is given some of my other outfit posts, but I'm not usually the type to channel Brittany Spears circa the mid-90's before she decided to go bat-shirt crazy and shave her head. The way I see it, though, rules were meant to be broken, and I can't think of a better reason to bust them up than this wonderfully school-girl-ish skirt that I count among my more victorious XXI finds. I'm somewhat surprised that I was irresistibly drawn to it during the FNO frenzy considering that I spent an embarrassingly great portion of my childhood being forced into a plaid, much less flattering, much more dowdy rendition of this general silhouette for school and subsequently vowed to never wear anything even remotely similar ever again. I'll direct you again to my statement about rules and what people should do with them. At least the polo shirts that for a good 10-years accompanied my requisite plaid-wearing haven't resurfaced in my wardrobe. Not yet, that is.
