No idea why I thought this would be a fun idea. But it was! Last year's "fairy Godfather" costume was a tough act to follow... But like last year, I did take first place at the local pub's annual costume contest...

Nevertheless, I was the flower, and my other half was a bee. Needless to say, we turned a few heads to have a huge flower and honeybee walking down the street together...

Everything is DIY. The plastic foliage, flower pot, burlap, all came from a local home center, and the headpiece is wire frame, with petals I sewed with my sewing machine from yellow cloth purchased at the fabric store.

I used brown leggings and brown Vibram Five Fingers KSOs to give the idea of "roots" protruding from the bottom of the pot and a green, long-sleeved T-shirt for the "stalk."

It was a perfect costume for Japan... The Japanese (especially the J-girls) LOVE kawaii or "cute" things, so I got tons of smiles, (and gave many in return), many people feeling *ahem* adventurous, "feeling up" my costume, and I must have posed for several metric bucketloads of photos. All in all it was a great evening and a fun party!
