The 1920s has always been one of my favourite decades for its innovative fashion. The dark make-up and clothing, aswell as the exuberant attitude associated with the roaring twenties reminded me of the qualities of a vampire. I felt that combining the two, a flapper and a vampire would make for a spooky yet fashionable look.
The majority of the outfit is made of either borrowed or DIY pieces. The beaded black dress and lace up boots were kindly lent to me by my sister. I made the long black gloves out of an old pair of tights and I created the head piece, adding my grandmothers broach. I used the faux fur stole, that was previously attached to a coat, to add texture and create a powerful silhouette. I kept the jewellery silver as the cool tones emphasized the cold blooded character of a vampire.
The make-up was inspired by photographs of 1920s women, but to keep the look modern I kept the brows thick, which also helped to give a more sinister vibe. I subtly added a bite mark on my neck to suggest that I was not always a vampire. I didn't want to overkill (pardon the pun!) the vampire theme so you can see only one drop of blood coming from the dark red lip.
