This year my boyfriend and I went all out to become the infamous Team Rocket from Pokemon. I am a long time Pokemon fan and always wanted to create a Jessie and James costume for Halloween. This year happened to be our 2nd anniversary so we really took it to the next level!

I'm a bit of an authenticity snob, so I made sure to get very detailed. The wig/headpiece was by far the most challenging part, and definitely the make or break of the entire costume. Without Jessie's signature gravity defying do, it simply wouldn't be complete! I purchased a 160 cm cherry red wig, and recruited the help of my friend's talented mom who happens to be a master crafter. She took the raw materials I purchased: steel wire frame, paper mache fixings, the wig itself, corset boning, spray paint, hairspray, gelatin, and some other odds and ends to create a monster of a wig, more challenging to wear than most drag queen's sunday best!

The bumps, bruises, and headaches I acquired while wearing the thing were beyond worth it for the perfection of the costume in it's entirety!

I thrifted the other components of the costume from various goodwills, savers, and even ebay over the course of about 3 months. Started in August finding the perfect parts for both Jessie and James (not pictured here as it would go against the rules of LB). I also purchased a sewing machine and learned how to hem the skirt and the shirts. I found everything I needed to find, including the pokeball! I am truly proud of this costume, all the hard work, and learning new skill sets. I'm excited for next year's challenge!!

My friend's mom was in charge, she is pretty amazing. It involved a lot of wire frame, paper mache, pray paint, wig hair.. so many components!
