I'm a big Wes Anderson fan and when Moonrise Kingdom came out this year, I knew I will be Sam Shakusky for Halloween.

Like my Halloween costume last year (Pinocchio), my ONLY rule is to NOT spend any money on my costume, and THAT I will still be able to wear the garments even after Halloween (not throw them out). These rules not only saved me money, but more than anything, it allowed me to have fun, get down and dirty, and be creative.

Everything in this look is already in my wardrobe. All I really did was to put them together and plan how I'll shoot it.

I also realized I can't pull off a 'scary' costume, therefore I'm sticking to the cute and charming characters. Hence, I am Sam this year.

One of the things I like about Wes Anderson's movie is the -- costume/wardrobe. Moonrise Kingdom is set in the 60s -- Mod, Mad-men preppy, muted pastels and a lot of cool retro electronics.

I didn't have exactly what Sam had --- in terms of the camping backpack, the badges and pins, the exact shoes, water bottle --- but I guess the idea is to be 'inspired by' the character, and come up with my own rendition.

The backpack would not look too good with my brown belt, so I opted to do the shoulder-strapped-camera instead. I didn't have an aluminum water bottle but the Polaroid camera is a great alternative. I got the badges and pins from a swag-bag from a fashion event I attended to --- not only it matched the concept (Into the Woods), it even matched the color palettes.

Overall, this was a very fun process and I truly enjoyed it.
