I love days when I have time to scout out legitimately interesting places to shoot some pictures, but photographic opportunities in the next few weeks will likely be limited seeing as I'm going back to Portland for a month and...let's just say that they general weather and lighting there were pretty accurately captured by the Twilight series, which was filmed primarily in various locations around my hometown. Shockingly enough I've already started packing for my flight on Wednesday (I wanted to make sure that I had enough time to cram everything remotely cold weather proof into my suitcase), but thankfully I was lucky enough to have spent quite a few childhood afternoons watching one of the world's best packers, my mom. She has more or less turned suit-case stuffing into a science and somehow manages to fit an incalculable amount of stuff into incredibly finite bags. In an attempt to cope with impeding warm-weather withdrawals, I spent most of the day driving around the surrounding area in what turned out to be an insanely picturesque trip, with sun-faded signs, elongated palm tree shadows, and sporadicly dreamy, golden-washed cityscapes. But enough of frivolous description and nostalgia, I'm crazy excited to see some legitimately friendly faces, bake holiday cookies, and sleep in my old bed again-I count the fact that my high school room hasn't been converted into a private library or figurine room as one of my greatest blessings. There's really nothing quite as sappily wonderful as slouching at my trusty old desk, listening to complaint rock, and reviving some untempered teenage angst.
