I found this brooch with a character from my favorite children's book of all time in a toy shop outside of Stockholm. It's Toffle from "Who will comfort Toffle" (Vem ska trösta Knyttet?) by Tove Jansson.

I'd put in part of the text here, but since the official English translation of the book sucks, I'll just quote the two first pages with a direct translation without rhyming;

Once upon a time there was a little toffle who lived
All by himself in a lonely house.
He was probably far more alone than he thought.
In the evening when he lit all the lights
And cuddled up under the cover in his bed
And sobbed to himself because he was scared.
Outside the hemules were walking around with heavy steps
And far away the Groke´s howl was heard in the darkness.
All the doors were closed everywhere, and all the lamps were burning In the homes of all the poor frightened little creatures who comforted each other.
But who will comfort Toffle and say something like this:
At night things grow much more awful than they really are

The next morning before dawn
The fog laid gray and cold round the house,
Toffle put his nose out anxiously and sobbed.
He had made it after all -
But he would rather eat his hat
Than stay in his house another night.
So he fled into the fog - and soon he could no longer be seen.
And the doors were open and the lamps were burning down
And Toffle grieved afterwards and thought
"I was stupid to let rain and darkness move into my rooms"
But who will comfort Toffle and tell him that the same day he fled
His house was filled of new, much happier, Toffles.

I have the first Moomin book and I loved it! Really interesting to read about this Toffle character in another of Tove Janssons books. Thanks for sharing that little story. I was also curious to see the story behind the brooch so I guess now I did :) XX
