The second I saw that skirt, I fell in love. It's so me! Every time someone new comments on it, I quip, "Mickey can't keep his hands off me!" I consider Mickey and Minnie Mouse to be two of my main fashion inspirations, along with early 90s Courtney Love, Grimm's Fairytale characters, Gucci Goth, outer space, Barbarella, and, well . . . it would take too long to go on.
I paired the skirt with a chiffon blouse that I tucked in in the front and left long in the back. I love the gigantic lapels. That was definitely the selling point. I also wore it with the same style of gloves Mickey Mouse wears with three seams on the back of the hand, and the garter tights from House of Holland--I love how they look like continuations of Mickey's arms leading down to my legs. The giant bow has a wire in it to keep it standing proud and tall, and the shoes died right after this adventure. Too bad; they were so cute and comfortable. They only lasted six weeks!
"Misky Mauschitect" is something I said accidentally at Disneyland once: I was trying to say "Mickey Mouse" and "etiquette" at the same time. It has since become my twitter handle ( @mskymauschitect ) and will one day be my DJ name.
