Unplanned weekend hike number three-I really could not be more excited about this giant plaid flannel, but after picking up two red renditions over the summer (off-season purchasing=a clear sign of addiction) and two blue versions over the holidays, I think I might have to cut myself off from lumberjack-style apparel. I'm also planning some major recompensing for neglecting these moccasins for so long, which are probably the most comfortable things I've ever put on my feet...with the possible exception of some impractically fuzzy socks I used to slide around the my parents' house in but lost during my southern migration. I'm still haven't quite found my footing sans 6 inches of heel and a solid inch of platform, but the ability to discern some semblance of the ground-covering through the soles of my shoes is refreshing in an almost reassuring way. "Almost" being the key word. Maybe I'll stop by my local drugstore to see if those jewel-toned insoles that have been over-advertised in just about every possible medium can live up to the hype.
