Despite owning very few Alice McCall pieces, I would claim the young London-based Australian designer to have been one of the most influential on me in the past. In particular, McCall's Spring/Summer 2011/12 collection was the primary inspiration for the final project of my Certificate IV in Fashion Design and Technology course. This dress epitomises what I appreciate most about the pieces the designer creates. Firstly, although I am an avid black-and-white wearer, every season McCall releases a storm of creative colour which forces me to go out of my colour comfort zone. Secondly, she takes major trends and gives them her own creative and colourful interpretation. For the featured Spring/Summer 2012/13 'Flower Mountain' dress, McCall takes the peplum trend to an all new level, utilising silk organza to make a scalloping asymmetric peplum.
