When I saw this dress hanging on a rack in a small boutique on Santee Alley in Downtown LA, the most random word came to mind- psychedelic. This dress looks as if someone took a big paintbrush, dipped it in a bunch of vibrant colored paint, stood ten feet back and flicked the paintbrush all over the dress. The wild and dazzling design coupled with the ridiculously low price, made buying this dress a no brainer! Not to mention, the fabric is similar to that of a wet suit, which I know seems like it would be unflattering or uncomfortable, but it actually hug my body tightly on top and then flared out from my waist in a really appealing way!
I chose to pair it with these bright neon Prabal Gurung for Target heels that in my opinion, made the whole outfit come together. Initially, I was going to pair it with these white booties, but thanks to my best friend’s expert advice, I made the bold decision to try these out and I love the radiant yellow color and simple ankle strap!
I kept it pretty low key with my accessories except a couple subtle and classic Swarovski bracelets and these somewhat ridiculous but lively round white Nasty Gal shades. I also decided to throw on my Levi’s staple jean jacket to make this dress more versatile as the striking colors and prints on it are so “out there,” that by adding a simple jean jacket can make the whole outfit wearable for any occasion.
We shot these photos in the back yard of my best friend’s house looking over Temescal Canyon right as the sun was going down in Pacific Palisades-my lovely hometown. Her modern house and beautiful garden made for an outstanding background and I love how the light plays on my skin tone and the outfit as a whole.
Happy Friday! More photos to come but until next time…
