Thank you Anton Aguila for my amazing portrait. This was taken during the annual PREVIEW BALL held last week at HYVE club. The fashion folk gathered to witness the best dressed peeps for the JULY ISSUE of PREVIEW MAGAZINE. To make the party more exciting this year's theme was about wearing your favorite dancing shoes. I love the whole idea of reinvigorating the passion for dance since people dont really party/dance when their at clubs anymore.
For my look for the ball, I got Jan Garcia to design a cool couture coat smothered in rich beading and braiding detail. Whats cool about this coat is its actually upcycled piece from a previous gown he made seasons ago. I just love the beading and detail of the dress so much that I thought why not make this dress into an awesome coat rather than be left unused. so we thought of ways to convert it into a suit jacket type. The base material is this luxe smooth rich metallic grey velvet then a holster/vest was added creating a kimono type overcoat with clam shell detailing. It reminds me so much of the Renaissance especially The opulence. Because of the coat detail it gave me an idea to work with a historical inspired shoe as well. DAS shoes created this awesome high heeled buckled suede shoe with a silver toe which has a French Louis XIV flair.
To modernize the look and not end up like a costume I wore it wtih grey distressed acid wash jeans. Such a cool dichotomy of textures, and influences.
