I am really happy I got to pull this look off; it has been a long time coming. It was inspired originally by every every grunge movie ever made but it came to life after I watched 'Hemlock Grove' on Netflix. The way the costumer/stylist dressed the character 'Peter' was sublimely gypsy grunge, making parts of my fashion brain work like never before. I mean, I liked grunge on women, but I had never been too excited about it for guys 'til after that.
Anyway, why I say "originally" is because after I posted the photo on Facebook, a friend of mine saw an amazing story behind it I hadn't yet realized. It had depth and meaning in every pixel, the graffiti like wings, my body poised in a tense wary state, hands wrapped around some lost weapons, eyes latched to some unseen danger. The way she described it made me wish that that was exactly how I planned it. So now the look is inspired by her, her words, and the power of genres grunge and action together.
