The #1 source for fashion inspiration from real people around the world.
Let’s be honest – everyone wants to visit New York at least once in their life. I’m not so different from anyone at this point. The City seen in movies and pictures is a promise of better life – thinking about it always sends chills down my spine.
Yet, the reason why I want to go on the NYFW is that I really believe that I’ve got something to say and something to show to this world. I come from eastern Poland where the level of social problems such as racism and homophobia is really high. Swastikas and other offending symbols and phrases are painted on walls all around my home town, people are bullied for how they look or for the color of their skin. In such reality it takes a lot of courage and determination to express yourself. Sometimes I am insulted, called “faggot, queer”, but I’m still trying to be myself. Because I believe it’s worth it, I believe that anyone should have right to dress, look how they want to. I won’t lie, it’s really hard and sometimes I really wanna give up, but something is always stopping me – a nice comment from my reader or a random person on the street that tells me they love my blog and admire me for being myself. And that’s when I realize I’m not only doing it for myself but also for every single person that appreciate or believe in me. I’m doing it to show them, that we can really be ourselves and no one can stop us.
I’ve heard that New York is all about change. That’s why today I decided to post something unusual – I’ve chosen an soft grunge outfit because it’s not really my style, but it’s something new, fresh and if you want to keep up with New Yorkes, you’ve got to be different.
Exactly, in New York different is good. Let me attend the NYFW – see amazing fashion shows, meet all these incredible people and get inspired by New York City. I’m not afraid of hard work and I know that it’s not going to be a holiday, but a huge opportunity I want to use as much as I can.
I’m listening to “The New York State of Mind” now and I imagine myself in these colorful crowds which appear on NYFW. Make my daydream come true, because I want to show that everyone deserves a chance to fly.
