I love this costume. This look is more my idea of a female Batman rather than Batgirl (and yes, cosplayers, I know that it's not "canon") but it's I suppose closest to a Stephanie Brown/Cassandra Cain hybrid. I have a friend who did this series of drawings of superheroes when they are starting out, so they're really just wearing spandex and black and street clothing that looks like a rough outline for what the costumes will become, and I think that idea is so cool.I wanted my Batgirl to look a little amateur. I wore this look for a photoshoot once minus the cape and plus a leather jacket, the outcome was awesome - Batgirl by day! Anyway, I think the finished result of this costume is super cool.
I have this PVC shrug hanging around from a thing I did a looong time ago, and I'm so glad it still fits. The rest of this outfit is stuff out of my everyday(ish) wardrobe. I bought a little bit of yellow PVC and made the Batgirl logo for the chest and luckily fit into the kid's belt that I found at Target, and instead of going with a mask, I went with make up to make a mask-like look. I usually do this with comic book costumes, because I will get annoyed with a mask and take it off relatively quickly.
