I knew that this day would come... it was inevitable. But I've been holding back, delaying it as long as possible because I haven't been quite ready to let go. In all honesty, I'm still not sure that I'm ready, but even so, we're here. These are the last photos we took before leaving Paris. This summer, the garden at the Musee Rodin, perhaps my favourite garden in the city, stayed open late on Wednesday evenings. At nine pm, the great green door in the stone wall around the Hotel Biron would swing open and you could walk in at your leisure, strolling amongst the roses and sculptures while the sun set. The evening light over the garden had a deep, almost purple hue, tinged with blush pink. Sometimes, I took a book with me and found a bench to spend a few hours reading by waning sunlight. It was glorious. I would give up anything - even my shoe collection - to be magically transported back there to stay forever. But for the time being I'm in Vancouver - at least I have pretty shoes to wear while I'm here! - and so, as heartrending as it is, I have to say good-bye to my beloved city... or at least, see you soon.
