It was Coco Chanel who said, "It is always better to be slightly underdressed." I had a hard time wrapping my mind around this concept - after all, I love glitter and tulle and oversized rhinestones, why not wear them all at once? - until I moved to Paris. It is difficult enough to negotiate cobblestones and crowded metro cars in heels with overcomplicating the situation by adding a maxi skirt, oversized hat and sunglasses. I find myself keeping my looks simpler, even though my daily routine involves a lot less cobbled streets now that I'm back in Canada. After all, if you want to dress up a look, all you need to do is add the right accessories. And the French know a thing or two about accessorising, believe me; I fell in love with so many jewelry collections while I lived in Paris and I still keep discovering new ones including, most recently, Bijoux Cherie. The lovely shop owner, Cherie, introduced herself and her collection of ethnic-inspired baubles to me, it was pretty much love at first browse - the site has so much selection that I got a bit lost admiring all of the pieces, but in that pleasant I just started looking and two hours flew by kind of way. The fact that I fell in love with a pair of pink earrings? I can't really explain it. I'm definitely not about the start wearing pink everyday. But for Wednesdays, it seems to work!
