I really do love Halloween! Considering I use pretty much every other day of the year to dress up in very girlie, saccharine clothing, for Halloween I like to go SCARY. No fairies or ballerinas and cutesy characters for me - God no - Halloween should be all about being downright creepy.
The past couple of years I've avoided more 'traditional' Halloween costumes, so this year I decided to put my spin on one of the most archetypical Halloween costumes there is - the witch. However, I stayed away from pointed hats and stripey socks, instead styling up a more Victorian inspired 'glamourous' costume.
I tried to use as many pieces that were already in my wardrobe as possible. With it's big puffy sleeves the Ukelele dress was the perfect starting point. All I needed to do was make a simple cape which I stitched onto the shoulders, and it was ready! The hat, gloves and seamed tights cost next to nothing on eBay, and the necklace and boots were already in my wardrobe. The broomstick was a gift from a friend.
Probably my thriftiest Halloween costume to date, but possibly my favourite!
