For me, a Halloween costume has to be especially two things: creative and scary (but not too much as I get scared very easily).
This year I choose to be a Dead Prom Queen that died in 1997 for Halloween. Actually, I can't really remeber how I got the idea but I had been having it for a couple of months and I was really looking forward to it.
I used the dress that I actually wore to my own prom two years ago as a starting point and tried to build my costume around that. I liked the idea of wearing a green wig, because it adds something special to the costume and I mean, everyone knows that your hair turns green, once you die, right? I have been wanting to dye my hair green for a while, but can't because of my work, therefore, I chose to buy a wig instead. I got the crown from my lovely boyfriend for my 20th (twenteenth as I'm still a teenager at heart) birthday and the coolest part about it is that it actually blinks when you push the heart in the middle of the crown. The sash was specifically made for me. I chose the colour and font because I thought they would fit well to halloween and I chose 1997 because I'm very much into the 90's at the moment and just really liked the number. Also, I wanted to be dead for a while because it gave the whole thing a touch of the TV series "Cold Case". Now, last but not least: my choice of shoes. The plateau wedges are already 2 years old but I really love them. I chose them for once, because I thought they would kinda fit to the 90's theme but mostly because we were planning to go dancing. As we intended to go out to a rock/indie party I wanted to wear comfortable and practical heels because I move and jump and stomp a lot while dancing and I really didn't want to wrench my ankle or some shit. Normally I wear DocMartens when dancing but they wouldn't have fitted the costume, really.
So in general, I tried to make my costume as cheap as possible, using things I already owned because obviously I'm only a poor student. (Which is also why my camera quality isn't that good, I'm sorry). I've been wanting to have BlackMilk clothes for a while but never had the money to purchase anything from them, which is why I would be super happy if I won.

I had to reupload this look, because it did not enter the contest first time round.
