Beetlejuice is my all time favorite movie. I would watch it over and over again when I was younger, its eery aesthetic completely entranced me and the character of Lydia Deetz was one that I could 100% identifiy with and I still do. Being a "creepy girl" is somewhat part of my percieve persona and I have become somewhat criticized for it. Being Lydia for Halloween was a way for me to be myself and also be "normal" but also a reminder that it is OKAY TO BE CREEPY.
I am Lydia Deetz through & through.
On the costume: Since Lydia Deetz is essentially my spirit animal, I really had my whole costume together already. I just went to my favorite thrift store to find a black lace dress which I then modified slightl -I just cut it shorter- and wore by faithful black tights and Doc Martens that I already wear everyday and took my lovely Nikon N75 camera with me. I also decided to wear my beautiful Bloodmilk necklace for an extra touch in honor of her and her gorgeous jewelry and also her love for Lydia Deetz.
(NOTE TO LOOKBOOK: accidently posted this look twice because the first one didn't get entered into the competition for some reason)
