The world is at war, on a battleground built around violence and greed. We have dreams that are dictated by wealth and stardom, while we are ignorant that true bliss is from love and compassion. Our generation, the generation of the future, is your generation. Yes, you.
And I hate to break it to you, but your life won't be perfect, maybe average at most. It won't be like scenes from a movie, and definitely won't be like an episode of Doctor Who. You won't have a man like James Dean saving you. Nor will your life have a soundtrack composed by Regina Spektor. Your relationships won't be perfect and all love-dovey. High school might well be total crap. You won't ever get that dream job and no matter how hard you try to romanticize it, your pain will never be pretty. You will have bad days. You will have days you are sure are your shittiest days, just to have the next day prove you wrong. However, despite all odds, and everything stopping you, you won't give up. You won't let me dictate your life, because you have a voice.
A friend once told me that as human beings, we have one voice, and although there are many like it, each of ours is unique. The world we live in is a battlefield, on which every war lost is every word left unspoken. This world is too loud to be left quiet. You have a voice, one that can't just die inside of you. When we are born, we are given life as a blank canvas and our voice as our brush. Our voice is who we were, who we are, and who we will be. Our voice makes us invincible.
