Every time we are in Paris, we rent a different apartment, so that we can experience the city from somewhere new. But there are two neighbourhoods we keep coming back to year after year - le Marais, where we spent last year, and Montmartre, where we stayed last week. Montmartre, particularly on a sunny day, is utterly charming and quintessentially Parisian. I refused to be slowed down by anything silly like jetlag and so we were out in the neighbourhood early on the Saturday morning after we arrived, just wandering and seeing what there was to see. But not before enjoying a breakfast of the cutest miniature chausson aux pommes and pain au chocolat from the neighbourhood patisserie on rue des Martyrs! We stumbled upon this old bandstand in the park just down the street from where we were staying. The view of Sacre Coeur cathedral from inside was too beautiful - we couldn't help but stop to stare. And take a few photos, naturally.
