Today, I've teamed up with Lauren of Sophisticated in Style to bring you some tips on dressing for a job interview. Lauren and I are both businesswomen by day, which gives us a keen sense of what kinds of clothes are office appropriate - and how far the limits of a dress code can be pushed to accommodate cute outfits. When I have a job interview, these are the things I keep in mind...
1 // Stick with a conservative colour palette
It helps that I love neutrals, but in business, black, navy, white and beige are always in style, no matter what the year or the season.
2 // A jacket is your best friend, especially in the summer
There is nothing worse than arriving to an interview overheated and out of breath. Carry your jacket to the location of your interview and slip it on over your (sleeveless or shortsleeved dress) in the elevator.
3 // Let your personality shine through
If you get the job, you don't want anyone to be shocked by how you look on your first day. If, like me, your skirts tend to be a little shorter than average or your lipstick a little bolder, share that right from day one, while keeping the rest of your outfit more business-like.
