Back from the desert, back to reality.
It’s almost been a week since I packed my bags and set off to escape reality and let loose in Tankwa Town. My third year lucky and wow, what a journey it has been. an Amazing five beautiful days consisting of sunshine, a light drizzle of rain and almost 24hours of non-stop gail force winds with dust and sand in places I didn’t even know existed. I always anticipate this festival and before I know it, it seems to be over in a heartbeat.
From the glorious sculptures to the pastel sunsets, to the absolute wonders of each and every person that passes you by, I can honestly say that nothing comes close to this feeling that is left behind. It’s true what they say, you really can’t experience everything at Afrikaburn! A memory that is still freshly brewing is the silent burn of “Awakening”, a lotus sculpture that I actually found myself dosing off in one of its leaves the night before, burnt to the ground in minutes, leaving no trace. I had packed and planned each outfit accordingly, but when you end up having too much fun, you don’t always have time to hop-skip-jump into every outfit in your suitcase. Most of my looks are partially vintage & new mixed with a casual DIY here and there to spice things up a little bit.
If you haven’t yet tried Afrikaburn, I can highly recommend that you do! Till next year Tankwa!
