Throughout my life, people have tried to strip away my masculinity because of my 'girlish' voice or my 'flamboyant' use of my hands or the 'laughable' music I listened to. For years I let thier ridicule destroy me until as an artist I decided to make a mockery of thier ridicule by doing a commentary on gender. I knew that my canvas would be my body (and voice) but it wasn't until I fell in love with fashion magazines like Vogue and Elle that I realized my paint is fashion. I hope to create a duality in my music and fashion by establishing two contrasting aesthetics. Me as 'Rob' will be simplistic bold choices while me as 'Blue Roses' (taken from the nickname character Laura was given by the Gentlemen Caller in The Glass Menagerie) will still bare elements of my masculinity-no fake breasts, I won't shave (a la Andre J) and shall be gravitating towards couture fashion of the past and now. I look forward to you joining me on this journey of evolution as a person and artist.
