What to wear with cowboy boots?

I just bought new cowboy boots. I absolutely love them and I've been wanting them for a long time. They're sort of light-brown with turquoise embroidery, and with those typical cowboyboot top edges.

The only thing that I'm worried about is that I'll make really wrong combinations. (also I'm worried about what people will say but that's my problem I guess..)

So, what do you think about cowboy boots? And what would you combine them with?

I have a look of mine that how cowboy boots if you want a visual image
I quite like the way it turned out the title is "Cross Roads"

Depends on the color of the boots, jeans and a loose top or a tight cami under a plaid look good
Also sometimes a short dress can look /really/ cute depending on the boots

Considering you are from Holland and wanting to know what to wear with cowboy boots, you probably won't get a serious answer from anyone.

It would be like someone from Texas asking what they should wear with Clogs. :)

Oh, that's nice, so your reply depends on where the person comes from? I'm disappointed, I thought I would just get simple, serious advice. I did get some in the end. But I won't use the forum for advice anymore.

I would go with a nice sun dress! I'm from Texas, haha, and lots of girls here wear their boots with simple dresses. It's a really cute look. you can also wear them with jeans - tucked or untucked. a simple shirt would go well, like a solid color tee. hope that helps! :]

I know I don't look good in a Dashiki.

I gave you my two cents, I think cowboy boots are culturally linked to genocide against First Nations people(there used to be native 500 tribes in North America, how many remain?)) and animal cruelty(how many horses died at the Calgary stampede this year?)

Europeans are quite unaware of just how much the world has suffered in order to secure things like sugar, cotton, fine brazilian hardwood, tea, coffee, heroin, ipods, ect. This unawareness isn't your fault, you're geographically detached from other regions of the world that are being ecologically & economically exploited. If you lived in Western Canada you would know what the cowboys did the the indians, the mounted police were created after some American whiskey traders(wearing cowboy boots no doubt) massacred 3 dozen Assiniboine indians in the 1870's.

That is why blood is an appropriate combination with cowboy boots.

You're never going to get simple, serious advice from me, you get the truth.

I love cowboy boots :) I've owned three pair in my lifetime, and yes, people made fun of them a lot. But know what I had said to that? "Fuck you, I look cute and you don't." I promise you people will always have something to say about that, but just have confidence about it! :)
I think a lot of things work with the boots. What I typically wore with them, would be long tunic sweaters (with or without tights), skinnies, big oversized tees with tights or leggings (usually a massive white tee and sheer black leggins). Just have fun with it, make it your own :)

I'm sorry, I guess I reacted a bit too fast and without thinking about it. I thought you were making fun of me. Turns out you weren't. I didn't know your reasons for saying it.

I really hate genocide. And murder. And I get your point now.

I know about the world's suffering for the things I use, and the people around me use. We watch videos at school that show kids working 24/7 for big labels to get our jeans done. I hate that and I try not to buy those (but on the other side, if the kids don't have enough work (the vid showed us) they get less food and have to work harder.. I really don't know what to do..) and I know about genocide and murder. Many other people laugh about it, when they see it. In my class. They laughed about bombs in the second world war. That's not funny. They think it's cool. Or they act like they do.
I know about how our nature suffers from it too. And I wish our world was equal.

I didn't really know about the cowboys, though. I've never thought about it but now it's clear, because how else would all those tribes have disapeared..?

I really am sorry about all those things. I don't like them. I guess I'm selfish, don't think about it enough, don't buy enough things that were made by people who got paid enough.. I do want to.

I don't think I will sell my boots, or never wear them. I do know that I get your point, and that I'll try better to be more aware of the world's suffering.

At least your heart is in the right place, violence is the last action/option of a thoughtful person and the first action/option of a thoughtless person.

Its quite hard to avoid the sweatshop issue when shopping for clothes, thats why I buy all of my clothes at thrift stores, I'm even considering making my own clothes considering that many of those thrift store items were still made by sweatshop labour.

Since your boots are already there, you might as well wear them, perhaps in a way that raises peoples awareness of the issues. The cow that was skinned making them probably wouldn't want its life to go to complete waste. I have friends who are leather crafters, I might get them to do something with my skin after I'm dead.

What's NOT a good way to wear them? As long as you don't tie up your button down shirt with your denim mini skirt and red snake skin hand bag, we're good.

I know that's hard.. Every time I look into a label hanging from something I wonder who had to work for it and what happened. I want to make some clothes of my own too (but I think the reason I wanted to do that was to make the things I really liked but couldn't find anywhere) but it's a good idea anyway.

Yeah I think so too.
That sounds scary..? You mean as a form of protest? Or just to not let your skin be wasted?

Wear them with a girly dress, but nothing to long, ruffly, or full (to avoid looking like you're going to a ho-down).
