i guess this could pertain to musicians as well.
i haven't felt that surge of energy, that inspiration, to drop whatever i'm doing and just go out and paint or photograph in a while. it's really depressing.

so i'm curious, but who or what has inspired you recently? it'd be really cool if you posted the result of it to!

Well... my work this term is research/process-based, so the work of specific artists like Chitra Ganesh and Raymond Pettibon have really been influencing the more formal aspects of my work, whereas the motivation behind the longer projects largely come from little absurdities I encounter here and also sexual frustration yay. :D

Having school projects is a mixed blessing. On the one hand, if it's really open (like mine is), you can choose whatever you want. On the other hand, you really need to dedicate all your work to the term project. And if you don't pick something you like and want to expand on, you're fucked.

Although I'd definitely say that having assigned projects helps me stay working. It's when I slack off for a while that I have to really push myself to get back into the flow. When I'm in a pattern of looking at things and being motivated to make art, I'm more likely to be stimulated and continue.

I don't have many photos of my recent work up yet, but these three definitely draw on the more formal aspects of Raymond Pettibon's work:

Can I steal your idea? I often thought about how depressing our smokers lounge looks. I spend quite a few time there(since it's the only place in the entire dorm where I can play guitar/ run lines/scream without getting on everyone's nerves). I could stencil a smoking silhuette, that's pretty easy.

I'm constantly inspired by many different things. Right now maybe Salomé Nascimento, a portuguese artist. You can see her work here:
