I'm sure a lot of people got a nice camera.
I use one pocket camera (samsung i70) and one digital slr camera (canon 40d)

pocket one is good, because it is really easy to carry, however, the quality is bad.

Switched to a Nikon D2x from the D200. Wanted something with a different battery form factor, so I wouldn't be guarding my battery charger against my older sister who keeps losing her D90's charger...

My baby's a Nikon D3200, and I've been on a nifty fifty for a month or so now -- highly recommend the lens (although I see why people would opt for the 35mm). Only issue is the D3200 is AF-S, so the lens doesn't auto-focus. Makes self-timer tripod shots a tad trickier, but still fairly simple to shoot (actually, I think the self-timer with MF renders a sharper image than AF when set up properly).

I usually manually set the focus on the 18-55 that I'm using with the D2x... The 50/1.8 is a nice little lens. I tend to go for the non-D version, which dates from the late '80s-mid '90s. Build quality seems to be better. Right now, both of my nifty-fifties are lenses from the late '60s. A 50/1.4 Nikkor-S and a 50/2 Nikkor-H.

Very cool to have the old lenses! Inherited or purchased vintage? I don't know much about the lens quality, do you find that your photos look a little aged from the natural lens-wear? Maybe softer due to lower res? I should Google it. :) More expensive than new? Less? Now I want one....

lol, no worries.

Thanks!

The lenses were purchased used from various shops, eBay, etc... With respect to sharpness, most of them are pretty sharp and contrasty. The only Nikkor that you really need to be careful of is the old 43-86 zoom. It's sharp, but images produced by it are very flat. Not much contrast at all. But, that is to be expected from a lens that was first introduced in 1963 and didn't change much until 1974-75.

Here's a site that I trust pretty well for reviews of various lenses: naturfotograf.com/index2.html

Try this one... Shown on my Nikon F2AS film body. It's manual focus, but extremely sharp. A bit faster than your Tamron 90mm Macro, too. One of my favorite lenses on a full-frame camera.

Hmm.. different camera are for different situation, like how we use Lightroom and Photoshop differently. DSLR to me are for landscape or some extreme fashion shots, but normally a compact camera like Samsung NX3300 would do just fine for normal fashion shooting, but not for some very artistic wise shoots
