"The President says that he's always believed that Americans should be treated equally regardless of their sexual preference, and that he hesitated on gay marriage because he thought civil unions would be enough. But over the years, he's grown to understand that loving families don't necessarily look like a Norman Rockwell painting. He said, 'At a certain point, I've just concluded that for me personally, it is important for me to go ahead and affirm that I think same-sex couples should be able to get married.'"
Say what you will about him. But you have to admit - whether you approve of his policies or not - being the first black president and the first president to support gay marriage is pretty impressive.
