It's a different kind of love but love no less right?
My story is long and complicated, but I basically lost my best friend of many years. Much attributed to a guy. She no longer wants to be friends with me. There are a few weeks left of high school and then I'll be off to college. It's terrible.

No need for advice, I finally have come to terms with the situation and dreadful as it is.

But i was wondering, does anybody else have a story? Or and after-story?

You're not alone. I feel like I'm having the same problem as of tonight. My best friend hasn't been treating me right. I feel like a convenience that she takes advantage of; I don't feel like she gives me the attention and care I deserve. And she just did stupid stuff tonight, and it feels like the last straw. If she is willing to make an effort, I might let her. But as of right now, she's made things awful bleak. :\

I don't know if it's the same, but I'm in love with my best friend, he digs another chic and I know that I'm going to lose him over her. Love sucks, right?

true friends stick with you through the good and the bad. I recently lost one of my best friends because when I was going through a lot of personal things they weren't there for me. and it became very selfish on their end and everything changed.

that's the most important thing, people change and sometimes when two people have so much in common they grow and change in their own separate ways and the friendship isn't the same as it used to be.. but with that change comes new people and new friends, it will all work out in the end.

I've had best friends that ive lost to one big argument. Ive come to find that the best way to deal with it is to distance myself and try to forgive and forget. That way, when we meet again, theres no hate, and theres the chance we'll find our way back into one anothers lives.

lost my best friend because I fell in love with her.. and I did something terrible.. quite a long story.. but yeah, it takes time.. it's been almost 4 years since she got mad at me.. although we haven't reconciled yet, she started texting me again though she barely reply.. (she sends group messages and quotations) but I believe that there is time for everything and someday, we would be friends again.. :)

sooo my best friend hasn't been talking me for the last two months .. hasn't been returning my calls, text, fb msges.. nothing at all.. we never had an argument or anything so i have NO clue as to what's going on..
I can relate to Chris.. I guess she just tosses me around when she needs me or not.. but it's never been like this before..It hurts me SO MUCH almost every single day. the best part? She probably doesn't even care at all... If you guys have had a true best friend then you know the heart breaking feeling you get

Had a best friend and eventually stopped trying to impress her because I thought she'd understand my situation but she didn't. I stopped answering her and just went on with my life.
I know it's pretty mean of me to do that but if you were in my shoes you'd understand.

It's awful growing apart from friends.. I've lost many close friends because of really big personal issues whom they didn't understand and didn't care for. Just like you're saying, only superficial problems were the topics for our conversations and it didn't feel right.

I know it's kinda mean but I just started to ignore one of them, and then it shows up he's been stabbing my back all along. So I just told him to fuck off and get out of my life.
I'm moving this fall and so does he so I never have to see him again, and it feels so good even though we had many good memories I can't really look back at them with joy now. Hopefully going to get some new friends at the new place! Look forward to it.

Losing a good friend is never painless but some relationships you just don't need as much as others.

This happened to me too, but since there was 3 of us (three best friends) the other forced us to be friends again lol, its much easier when you have another friend. But i understand its terrible, the same friend i broke up with texted me recently saying that she wants to keep her distance from me, because her boyfriend doesn't like me, well...her loss!

i lost a friend for a while, gained her back now but the relationship is not the same. we fell out over me cancelling on her last minute and she made me apologise so much that i lost my temper and had harsh words and she stopped talking to me. a year went by, i sent her a birthday present but heard nothing. in the end i called her one last time and she picked up and acted like nothing had happened. seeing as we met most weeks before, from not seeing her for a year, she was incredibly blase about it. she didn't mention it. we arranged to meet with a mutual friend who knew about it and the meeting went well and we are back on track. but when she stopped talking to me and wrote to me that she didn't want to be friends with someone who didn't keep to their word, i felt like i'd lost my heart in the non romantic way. the way she didn't seem to realise why we lost each other was astounding, thinking that she had thanked me for the birthday envelope when we hdn't talked the whole of year, really pissed me off. i brought up the topic and she avoided it so she knew something of how she acted but she chose to ignore it. she's one of my oldest friends so i was loathe to loose her even then. after discussing it with our mutual friend, i've drawn a line under it but i don't trust her the same way and that will always be there

Yeah it happens, I don't want to get deeply into it, but a lot of things happened that were no one's fault, but caused her to be a little cagey and also major distance issues (I was abroad part of the time, tried to keep in touch with her to no response) and right before I got home I got an email from her that was essentially a restraining order (not in the legally-binding sense, but in the don't talk to/ be in same room as way). She was my best friend and we hung out in a lot of the same social circles, so not only did I lose her, I lost a lot of my other good friends as there were too many situations where it was essentially choosing one or the other of us, so I just backed down. So in addition to going through the worst break up of my life (honestly, no guy has ever nor could break my heart as much as losing her did) I also lost a large chunk of my life: I have only a handful of friends left, of which two and some acquaintances live within a 100 mile radius, I've missed parties and concerts, dived into bushes to avoid being seen(as pathetic feeling as it sounds), and now have to figure out how to go to an event my work is putting on while managing not to be seen by her (this one actually makes me a bit angry, she knows I have to be there for work, yet she facebook rsvpd for it without being invited, so I don't know what I'm going to do. I'll probably just go early, make sure my boss sees me, duck out, and then come back to clean up. Which is a bummer because I was really looking forward to it.) I guess what I'm saying is it sucks, and it can eat up your whole existence as you once knew it to be. And it's not like there's anything I could say sorry for, even if I were allowed to say sorry.

I think everyone at some point has gone through with this.I lost my best friend, not because of someone else but just because we were growing up and changing and meeting new people. It was hard because I knew her since we were 4 and to now think that once we were joint at the hip and now feel awkard speaking to each other is sad.But hey life goes one and everything happens for a reason :)

a couple of years ago i lost one of my oldest friends because she didn't like that i cancelled on her last minute and ignored me for a year. when i phoned her after that time having heard nothing from her, she acted as if it was my fault. we attempted to make up, i made a joke she misinterpreted and the whole thing started again.she ignored my emails and then i gave her an ultimatum. she finally responded with a dismissal of 10 years of friendship, saying that we were unsuited. now that i know how she tosses people over so easily, i shouldn't have been hurt for 2 years over it but that's all in hindsight. that teaches me to be friends with someone so self absorbed
